1.) All students of history have a fascination with Roman games and the places they were held in. What I would like for this week, is for you to write a short paper on the “Circus Maximus.” Many of you might remember this from the movie Ben Hur and one of the most famous scenes in movie history…the chariot race. Tell me something about this “theater of sports,” what was held there, why it was created, its history and is it there today?(You do not need to add photos to your paper and there are ample resources available for you to explore on this topic.)OR…..2.) In a short, 2 – 3 page paper, explain why the history and culture of the Roman Empire was such a major influence and inspiration for America’s Founding Fathers at the time of the Revolution and the writing of the Constitution. Here are the guidelines you are to use for both topics in this paper.
1. Your paper is to be cited using MLA in-text citations. You cite any information you pull from your sources. You cite whether you paraphrase or quote directly. It is better to have less quotes and more paraphrasing. Paraphrasing is when you place the information you pull from your sources in your own words, which is what you are required to do anyway. Papers without in-text citations will be given a failing grade. If you are unsure about how to do in-text citations, ask me or run your papers by the tutors at Tutor.com.
2. You are to have a proper works cited page.
