Content:The term assignment is on a flight reservation and
managementsystem, where students are required to establish an m-commerce
site to take care of the core transaction for an airline flight reservation
business.
Each student is free to choose
an existing business model of any airline business to study and analyze
thoroughly and build a creative m-commerce business site.
This site, at the minimum,
should provide the core information related to the
a. Customer
b. Flight availability and
reservations
c. Flight management
(cancellations, add-on upgrades/downgrades)
The site should also provide
security so that only the authenticated users will be able to access data.
The first phase of the
assignment will be about analyzing the current business model being used. The
second phase will be to decide on a strategy to integrate the above-mentioned
core information into the business. Based on the analysis, students are
required to develop a new Internet-based hotel room reservation and management
system with professional user interface for their m-commerce site.
Assignment Grading:The assignment will correspond to 50% of the students
overall grade.

Model:Find a
business model you would like to use in your virtual company in order to expand
your business into mobile commerce, B2B marketplace, and collaborative
commerce. Why did you select this model? In which ways do you think this model
will be of benefit to the company?

Developing Internet pages for mobile devices:Provide four reasons why commercial
organizations should offer Mobile Internet content as well as regular PC-based
Internet content. Which programming language do you think is more useful in the
creation of Mobile Internet content? Provide a reasoned explanation for your
choice of favored program language. Investigate and discuss how Mobile Internet
content is hosted. Provide some examples of the associated software
applications and programs necessary to provide dynamic Mobile Internet web
sites.

Strategy:Develop an
IT strategy and Mobile Internet pages for your chosen company, taking the
expansion into mobile commerce, B2B marketplace and collaborative commerce into
consideration. Develop a cost estimate for it. How much budget do you need for
it? Is it affordable? What is the security you can show your creditors to pay
it off? What is the time required to implement that infrastructure?

Implementation Strategy & Comparison:How are you going to implement your new business plan
in these three new areas? What are the main differences between the old and new
plans? What are the newly introduced challenges and risks in your new model?
What does your new user interface look like (include screenshots and other
illustrations if necessary)? Critically analyze your user interface.

Present your
findings in the form of a 2, 000 wordacademic report with your
prototype (development of mobile internet). You must reference all published
sources you use to help you prepare the report, whether books, journal
articles, web and other references. The references should be both in the body
of the text (in-text citation), and at the end of the report (bibliography).
You should make extensive use of the reading materials and lecture notes to add
technical detail to support your answers, as well as published case studies,
web searches and other textbooks as information sources for your report.
Your work must
be submitted with the appropriate cover sheet which must confirm that the
assignment is your own and has not been submitted for another assessment. This
coursework covers learning outcomes 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Use Word to
count the words and put the total on the Title page. Your final document should
display the use of a formal structure with numbered sections. Please use the
marking sheet to plan and structure your assignment – it indicates the sections
you are expected to include and offers feedback on different aspects of your
submission. In addition to a section for each answer, you are expected to
include a title page, contents with page numbers, abstract, and introduction.
You must include a list of references at the end. 3
The title page should clearly state your student number,
programme and assessment title, and word count, with no artwork or page
number. Use Arial font, 11 or 12 pt, on A4 paper one side only and securely
bound, 1½ line spacing, double line space between paragraphs, numbered sections
with appropriate and informative headings, and a header and footer containing
the page number, the module number and your student number. All diagrams should
be labeled and professionally presented using a graphics package. Hand drawn or
unlabelled diagrams will notbe marked.
An assignment which does not meet the style and format
specification will not be accepted for marking. It will be returned to you and
