Starting on page 250 there are several “Steps” highlighted. In
this particular discussion with you I would like to address the first two.
Step 1: This step is perhaps the most critical as it can have a drastic
impact your entire operations. Understanding your product specification
requirements and then deciding on the meteorological requirements seems
logical, but it is often overlooked. In many cases the reverse is true. I have
seen many instances where product specifications / requirements we generated or
modified to compensate for currently employed measurement systems. Have any of
you seen or experienced this? If so what happened? Why? If you have not seen
this discuss why something like this might happen.
Step 2: The design of a measurement system to fit the product specifications
is not an easy task, as you may have picked up on from the first 8 chapters. On
page 251 there are a list of issues that should be considered please take a few
minutes and discuss which issues you feel to be of great importance and why?
