Lesson 11 Mini Analysis Activity
*You will submit this part of the assignment ONCE, through the RioLearn Perception scoring
tool.
□ Using the library, the links suggested in the lesson, or the Internet, find a persuasive piece
of visual or mixed media rhetoric and view it. Save the link as you will be required to
paste it into the RioLearn Perception scoring tool, along with your assignment.
□ After reading or viewing the media you’ve selected, answer the following questions in
complete sentences (1 to 3 sentences each):
1. What is your opinion about the topic being presented?
2. What type of audience are the creators of the text appealing to (resistant, neutral, or
sympathetic), and how can you tell?
3. Other than wanting to persuade you to purchase their product, what do the creators of
the media want you to think after you view or read the object? As you formulate your
answer to this question, consider the persuasion techniques they use to persuade you.
This will tie in to how the creators want you to think, feel, and/or respond.
□ Copy and paste the link to the media and your answers to the three questions into the
Perception tool in RioLearn for review. You can do this by clicking on the link provided at
the bottom of the lesson. Then copy and paste your paragraph into the box provided. Note
that formatting will be lost during the copy and paste. This is to be expected and you will not
lose points for formatting issues caused by the system. Also note that you do NOT need to
post this assignment to Turnitin.com.
